The 2006/07 season has seen mezzo-soprano Adriana Zabala on the stages of the Minnesota Opera as Niklausse in Les Contes D’Hoffman, as Mercedes in Carmen with Opera Pacific, and in a critically acclaimed performance as the Barbarian Girl in the American premiere of Philip Glass’ Waiting for the Barbarians with the Austin Lyric Opera. This season she also returns to the Syracuse Opera, and makes her debut at the Lake George Opera as Elmire in Kirk Mechem’s Tartuffe. Ms. Zabala has made recent guest appearances with the Madison Symphony, the Virginia Symphony, the Jacksonville Symphony, at the Caramoor Festival with the Orchestra of St. Lukes, and several appearances with the New York Festival of Song. Ms. Zabala is the Artistic Director of the Atlanta based Southeastern Festival of Song (SEFoS), with whom she will appear in the group’s fourth collaboration with the Dallas Museum of Art on their Arts and Letters Live! series in a concert she designed to highlight the museum’s recent bequest of contemporary art. In the past several seasons Ms. Zabala has been performed with the Seattle Opera, the Minnesota Opera, the Wolf Trap Opera, the Arizona Opera, Opera Carolina, and the Utah Opera. She is a frequent recitalist and has appeared at both the Barns at Wolf Trap and at the Kennedy Center’s Millenium Stage. This spring Ms. Zabala will present her fourth solo recital at the Wildwood Festival in a concert celebrating the music of Duke Ellington.
